Golden Boy | Original Artwork

This painting was from references taken thigh-deep in the Murray River during a visit to Cobram, Victoria. This young boy was playing with my son, and although he's the main subject, it's the water I was trying to capture!

When I'm at the beach, I'll obsess over the colour and sparkle of the waves. I'll be distracted for ages trying to capture the glittering reflections on my phone, and mentally noting how it looks and feels so I can attempt to paint it... somehow!

I've tried to capture the essence of the day and how I feel about visiting Thompsons Beach with my kids - relaxed, warm, playful, the golden tones and the interesting colours within the shadows and reflections.
